This started off when I heard Alice In Chains’ “Them Bones.” I loved that opening riff so much, I basically turned it upside down and played with the rhythm a bit to get the opening of Painful Little Itch. Problem was, I had no idea what to do from there. So I took a left turn and did that funky thing that’s now the verse. When Melanie got it to put some lyrics to it, she was more than a little irritated by those turns. The tune irritated her like...well, like a painful little itch. So that’s what it became!
